North of Ireland Pekingese Club Championship show
2006

BIS was Ch Delwin's paddy o'reilly,At 6 years the now famous paddy is a real credit to his owner,to maintain a dog in this condition for so many years is not an easy task. This little dog has had many admirers over the years and few who have criticised him.Having now judged him i am plesased to say i am very much an admirer. There is no question what sex he is and stood on the floor he looks every bit of the great champion he is and he knows it.On closer examination i found him to have a very large head that is masculine but not coarse in any way, pleasing expression set off by jet black pigment and very good eyes, good nose placement with open nostrils and correct wrinkle that does not obstruct his eyes or nose leather.Short bowed legs and tight elbows ensuring a very good front assembly, very short neck that
helps to maintain his overall balance that is so essential to the breed.Next is where he really excels, for a dog of his size he has a massive ribcage that tapers away to a distinct waist and the strongest of backs.well shaped lighter hind quarters that are very sound with good muscle tone, tail set high, picks up like lead for a dog of this size. Now to his coat, the word glamour did not sping to mind but magnificent did,he does carry a mammoth red brindle coat which is superb in texture and the presentation was flawless. He has a profuse mane which does extend beyond his shoulder, fringes to die for that frame his head and face with plenty of feathering on his tail and thighs.I was taught and still believe that you need to handle a peke as looks can be deceiving, this is so true of this dog.I can't recall handling a shapelier pekingese than Paddy, when asked to move he showed his true greatness moving effortlessly around the ring showing everyone how it should be done. The heat in the hall was quite intense and not once did he show any signs of distress. He filled my eye perfectly looking, moving and handling as he did here he will take some beating in any competition.I did not hesitate in awarding this once in a lifetime dog his 40th CC and i hope his 41st is not long away
