The Pekingese Club Championship Show 2005
Best in show was Delwin's paddy o'reilly,A medium sized short backed pear shaped dog with proper proportion under a profuse and expertly groomed coat. This dog picks up in one heavy piece and has the ideal wide bodied, deep chest slung between the thick tree trunk forelegs with elbows fitting flat against the ribcage. He has a dead level topline and a short thick "wrestlers neck" .His headpiece was large and wide with cheeks well padded and he has a large black wide open nose. His huge dark super widest eyes are expressive and give him what one famed breeder called "A face you can look into for hours"
No pekingese should be called "Great" unless it has ideal, breed specific movement, and paddy o'reilly fits the bill. His ideal construction proper shoulder layback give him correct movement which needs to be studied, memorised and sought after by all who desire to judge or improve our breed. This dog glides around the ring with a smooth roll-not a hitch nor bounce to be seen,as opposed to what i refer to as a pounding of the ground.which is an unsightly movement that has cropped up in the ring with pekes that have steep shoulders and restricted fronts.the breed is fortunate to have paddy o'reilly as a representative, demondstating for the world exactly what the smooth, steady, dignified, rhythmical, true pekingese roll looks like. There should never be a question in anyones mind after seeing this dog in action.
